What's on at the Museum 2008

Please note: -  The Museum is free to visitors, but many people interested in the locality have become "Friends of the Museum".   This is available to everyone and the yearly subscription is £7.50 or £10.00 for a couple.  "Friends" receive a quarterly newsletter and free admission to any events or lectures organised by the museum.    We look forward to you joining us, please contact the museum for an application form.

Expected dates and times of events for 2008: -

Sunday 3rd August:-    Cream Teas  3 to 5pm,   1 Eureka Vale, Perranporth.
Barbara and Tom Tremewan have kindly agreed to host this annual event which not only financially supports the Museum, but is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to meet and natter away the afternoon.   Our usual good weather has been ordered, so make a date in your diary to dig out that sun hat.

Friday 15th August:-     Talk by Mike Edwards at 7.30pm
This talk about the Bolingey Pottery will be held in the Memorial Hall annex.   We are grateful to Mike for this event as it compliments the exhibition of pottery we currently have on display in the museum.   Come along and hear about activities during the existence of the pottery, no doubt laced with the humor that Mike is so capable of.
The evening is free to friends and visitor entry is £1.

Displays for the 2008 opening:-    We have two this year.   Both pictures below have been made deliberately poor to encourage you to come and view the real thing!

The first display is a collection of Bolingey pottery.   Many will remember the Taylor family and the pottery at Bolingey, which later moved to station road.   Some of you will have examples of the items on display, but were you aware of the range of pottery that the Taylors produced?   Come and see, and add to our file if you have any additional information.

The second display features fishing and the pilchard industry.    We have a stone of the type which was used to compress the fish in the barrels.   It is too heavy to put on a stand, so mind your foot!   Any fishy tails for us?  Pop in and exaggerate as much as you like!

NB     Any dates/times quoted above may be subject to amendment if unforeseen circumstances arise.    Please check this page nearer dates shown or entries in the Museum newsletter.
