Personalities

Two of the most prominent personalities associated with the area are Donald Healey and Winston Graham,

Donald Healey was born in Perranporth in 1898 and was a winner of a Monte Carlo Rally.   He is famous for his design of the beguiling Healey cars and his latter association with the Austin car group which produced the Austin Healey's and the Austin Healey Sprite.

The picture on the right shows a stained glass window at St Michael's church Perranporth, which was installed in memory of Donald Healey

Winston Graham is the author who wrote the Poldark series of tales, which latter captured the populations imagination with the successful TV series.  The museum was active during 2006 in the provision of a memorial seat to the author, which is set in the sand dunes overlooking Perranporth beach.

A view of this seat, which is situated above an area called "flat rocks", can be seen on the left.  This is close to the spot where the author occupied a chalet for his writing.
